Moder POS basics

We built an easy-to-use POS system in Moder to make your daily operations smoother.

With it, you can charge customers at reception and add products (Extras) to either their room bill or activity booking.

Key Features:

  • Add products to the cart
  • Edit product quantities and prices
  • Products are managed in the Extras section and enabled for POS use there
  • Send products to a room bill
  • Accept payments via card or cash
  • Print receipts
  • Payment terminal integration with Stripe terminals

Moder and the Stripe payment terminal

The Moder POS works seamlessly with Stripe’s WisePOS payment terminal - allowing you to conveniently charge for products directly in Moder, both through the POS and invoices.

Which payment terminal works with Moder and how?

Currently, only one of Stripe’s payment terminals is compatible with Moder: the BBPOS WisePOS E. The terminal must be ordered separately through Stripe’s merchant portal, and placing the order requires having a Stripe account set up via Moder.

Once your payment terminal is integrated with your Moder account, you’ll see more payment method options available - both in your POS and on invoices.

A Stripe icon will also appear in your POS:

The “Credit card payment” button will appear on invoices:

How do I proceed if I want to add a payment terminal to my Moder?

Contact our support team at support@moder.fi, and we’ll guide you through the next steps and how to order the payment terminal.

Easy sales with the Moder POS

Moder’s POS is designed for effortless use. Add products to the cart, choose the payment method, and print the receipt.

Here's how:

Open the POS from the main menu by clicking Point of Sale.

Moder Tip! Manage which products are visible in the POS via the Products / Extra services feature by marking them as available in POS. You’ll learn more about this in the 2. Building and editing accommodation product course.

Key features

  • Add products to cart
  • Edit quantities
  • Adjust prices
  • Choose payment method
  • Transfer to room bill

How to Process a Sale

Here's how:

  1. Click products into the cart
  2. Adjust quantities and prices
  3. Choose the payment method: card or cash

Printing the Receipt

After selecting the payment method, Moder will ask whether you’d like to:

  • Email the receipt
  • Print the receipt

The sale is then automatically registered as an invoice and included in reports.

Options:

  1. Open the receipt and save as PDF
  2. Print the receipt
  3. Send by email (just enter the address and hit send)

Add to room bill

Adding products to a room bill via POS is easy. Once products are in the cart, you can add them to a guest’s room bill.

Here’s how:

  1. Search the guest’s booking using their contact details
    • Note: search only works for current or upcoming bookings
  2. Click "Add to Room Bill"
  3. Click Checkout and then OK
  4. A receipt is generated, and the products appear on the guest’s invoice

Adding products to the POS

What products can be sold via the POS?

The POS allows you to sell Moder’s Extras. These include, for example:

  • Breakfast
  • Dinner
  • Final cleaning
  • Rental equipment
  • Retail items (e.g., drinks, gifts)

How do I make a product visible in the POS?

  1. Go to: Products > Add-ons
  2. Select an existing product or create a new one for POS use
    • If you are creating a new product:
      • Enter the product name
      • Choose a product category
      • Add an image and product description (optional)
      • Set the price and VAT rate
  3. Enable POS sales
    • Check the box: “Sold in Point of Sale”
    • You can also optionally select “Moder Booking Engine” if the product should be visible in both

✅ The product is now available in the POS!

Why can’t I sell calendar-based products like activities or accommodation in the POS?

Accommodation and activity bookings require additional steps, such as:

  • Selecting dates and times
  • Entering guest information
  • Linking multiple products to a booking

For these needs, it's better to use tools like MultiBook or Group Bookings.

The Moder POS is designed for quick and simple transactions, not for calendar-based bookings.
