Accommodation units
As mentioned earlier, units in Moder refer to an individual apartment, cabin, room, product, or even a sauna.
In activity bookings, units refer to bookable spots or private bookings, such as for a reindeer safari.
You can find all the units you’ve created listed under the Products tab. The same view is also available under the Products tab for each product you’ve built, but presented specifically for that product.
In our example, the units for the Standard room (rooms 100–105) are now displayed under the Products tab.
From here, you can view unit names, notification email addresses, additional details, door codes, and bookings all in one place.
Naming units
As mentioned earlier, units can be named from two locations: you can navigate directly to the Units tab in Moder, or go to the Products tab and select the desired units for each product.
Naming individual units (e.g., a single cabin or villa) is not strictly necessary, but for room category sales, it is mandatory. The same applies to activity sales, where the bookable spots (units) must be named to allow for smooth bookings on the back end. More about activities and their units will be covered in another training session.
You can name your product units by clicking the Edit button when you’re on the Units tab.
And now you can start naming your units. In this example, the Standard rooms have been named according to their room numbers.
Notification emails
You can assign a unique notification email to each unit. This feature is useful for service providers such as caretakers, maintenance staff, cleaners, or key service providers.
This feature literally sends a notification email when a booking is made for the unit or when it is canceled.
Below is an example of a received cancelled-notification email. It also includes the booked additional services, the reserved product, as well as the check-in and check-out times.

The additional information field allows you to add specific details about the product for internal use. This field is not visible to the customer, but the information entered here can be viewed in the unit details or the Booking calendar.
From the Booking calendar, you can quickly check any additional information written about the product.
Door code
At this stage, you can set a product-specific door code. You can activate and send the door code to the customer by enabling a scheduled text message, which you can find under the Customers section. Let’s take a look at how to set it up!
Note! If you plan to use a locking integration in Moder, please refer to the Integrations course. In this case, you should not set a door code here. Instead, follow the instructions for the locking integration and the Integrations course. Locking integrations generate a unique door code for each booking.
Enter the door code in the field on the right and remember to click "Save."
Next, go to the Customers section in your Moder account. There is a dedicated course in Moder's course library about scheduled messages to customers, which includes ready-made templates and tips for customer communication.
For now, we’ll set up a scheduled text message to send the door code. Click the "Create new scheduled SMS" button.
Next, set a title for the text message, such as "Door code", specify the number of hours for the scheduling rule (e.g., 2 hours before arrival), and select the products for which the text message will be sent. Finally, click the Save button, and voilà, you're done!
Now, the traveler will receive the door code 2 hours before arriving at their destination.
Sending the Door Code Manually
You can also send the door code manually from Moder to the customer at a time of your choosing.
Here’s how it works:
- Open the Booking Preview
- Switch to the Messages tab
- Click Send Door Code to send it to the phone number listed in the booking
Moder Tip! You can also enter a different phone number in the SMS field if you want to send the code to someone else (e.g. another traveler in the room?).
