FAQ - Stripe or Paytrail?

Which payment service should you choose?
Simply: it depends on your customers and your business.

Choose Stripe if...

  • You have many international customers

  • You want to accept the most common card payments worldwide

Choose Paytrail if...

  • You want to offer Finnish users familiar online bank payments and MobilePay

  • Your customer base consists mainly of domestic (Finnish) consumers

Can you switch the payment service later?

Yes. The payment service can be switched later, but the implementation requires setting up the new service's settings.

Can I use both at the same time?

Sort of! If you set both payment methods, Paytrail will still be the one that overrides Moder’s webshop as the payment method. However, you can, if you wish, combine Stripe’s payment terminals with Moder and, for example, take payments through Paytrail via your Moder webshop, while on-site you can use a Stripe payment terminal.

What about fees and commissions?

Stripe and Paytrail charge their own service fees per transaction. Ask for the exact commissions from Moder’s support.

Stripe onboarding

1. Create a Stripe account using the link you received

  • Register with Stripe and verify your business information

  • Activate the account to receive payments

2. Connect Stripe to Moder and order payment terminals if desired

  • Open Moder's payment service settings: Settings -> Integrations

  • Add Stripe Account ID credentials to your Moder

  • Save settings and test the connection

Paytrail onboarding

1. Complete the Paytrail Agreement

  • Create a Paytrail agreement using the link provided by the Moder team

2. Connect Paytrail to Moder

  • Add Paytrail credentials to Moder's payment service settings: Settings -> Integrations

  • Save the settings and ensure the connection works
